Since yesterday the breeding season of the birds of the Rescue Centre at Green Balkans has been officially launched. The staff of the Centre confimed that thanks to the web-cameras mounted in the aviary of the Bearded Vultures.
On the 25 and 26 October a joint biodiversity training and new forestation action was carried out, this time in Pirin, together with Socotab Ltd.’s employees, tobacco producers for Dolno Osenovo village, with which the company has contracted and team memebers form FWFF and Green Balkans supported the initiative.
The census was carried out in the beginning of the winter, when the vultures’ breeding season started. The goal was to determine the numbers of the population of the Griffon vultures on the Balkans, and their age. The annual monitoring in Bulgaria spread over the Easter Rhodopes, Stara Planina, and Kresna gorge.

The hard work on the reconstruction of the vulture cages in the Wildlife rehabilitation and breeding center is in progress. The reconstructed facilities will be used for temporary accommodation of Griffon and Black vultures before their release into their natural environment.

The participation of the team of Green Balkans and the Wildlife rehabilitation and breeding center in the National veterinarian exhibition Bulvet Medica, organized by the Veterinarian faculty of the Thracian University in Stara Zagora became a tradition.
On 27 and 28 October we celebrated the Black Sea Action Day with several presentations of BLACK SEA WATCH project “Black Sea Marine Environment Research With Public Participation” to students and schollchildren at Burgas, Pomorie and Nessebar.

On October 22nd the team of LIFE14 NAT/BG/649 project participated in the XІІІ National stock-breeders exhibition in Sliven 2016. Our team presented the vultures conservation project activities before hundreds of farmers, participating in the meeting on the thematic information stand.
