On April 5, 2023 from 18:00 the exhibition "HOME - In the Embrace of the Bulgarian Mountains" by Ivan Hristov, together with Green Balkans, was opened in the Youth Center of Vratsa.
The exhibition consists of 25 photographs that present the beauty of the Bulgarian mountains, preserved in the European ecological network NATURA 2000. It is part of the project of Green Balkans - "Natura 2000 in Bulgaria - New Horizons", which is informative and aims at a complete change of attitude and public awareness of NATURA 2000 and the species and habitats that the network protects.
Ivan Hristov's photographs reveal breathtaking views from peaks and beautiful mountain landscapes, skillfully captured moments of sunrises and sunsets, shots that fill us with admiration and adoration. Apart from transporting us into that magic that overwhelms us when we step into the mountains, these photographs come to remind us that humans are only a small part of this wonderful nature and we must treat it responsibly.
The event took place in a very pleasant atmosphere, in the company of young and old visitors. The photos were interesting for everyone, and under each one, visitors had the opportunity to read from which protected area the shot was taken and interesting information about the habitat.
The opening was attended by both citizens and local media and there was a short talk about the ecological network Natura 2000, species and territories it covers and protects and the goals and idea of the project "Natura 2000 in Bulgaria - New Horizons". Together with the photographer Ivan Hristov, we presented to the audience how the idea of cooperation between him and Green Balkans arose and how art can be used as a tool for informing and raising attention to environmental protection.
From Green Balkans we provided information materials, children's information boards and puzzles with protected species, posters, brochures, flyers, stickers, which were distributed to the visitors.
