Representatives from local and state administration, scientists, and NGOs participated together in a seminar dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Natura 2000 ecological network

A seminar on the "Importance and Opportunities of the Natura 2000 Ecological Network" was held at the University of Agriculture - Plovdiv. The seminar was organized on the initiative of the Regional Inspectorate of Environmental Protection of Plovdiv. The seminar was organized by the National Nature Reserve of Plovdiv. The event was attended by more than 60 representatives of NGOs, academia, and students from higher education institutions in Plovdiv. Participants from Plovdiv universities, and municipal and state institutions.
 The seminar was opened by the Rector of Agricultural University - Plovdiv, prof. Jancheva. Green Balkans Association was represented by Hristo Nikolov. The focus of his presentation was on the need to implement all aspects of the Biodiversity Law concerning protected areas, and the need to finance the overall management of the areas of the ecological network, and he shared examples from his activities in the management of several protected areas - "Orizishta Tsalapitsa", "Konush Dam", "Pomorie Lake", etc. He addressed the young people - students aged over 18 and university students, inviting them to receive theoretical and practical training as professional environmentalists. Teams from the project "Natura 2000 in Bulgaria - New Horizons"/LIFE17/GIE/BG371 and "Bright Future for the Black Vulture" LIFE14 NAT/BG/649 also took part in the event.
Lectures were given by Maria Mihaylova, Chief Expert in the Biodiversity Department of the Eco-Inspection. Dimitar Plachiyski from the Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds spoke about the benefits and opportunities that Natura 2000 provides for society.
