In this year's national quiz "Natura 2000 and Birds of Prey" the students from the National Professional High School of Forest management "Hristo Botev" – Velingrad have distinguished with exceptional knowledge and it is no coincidence that they are in the first place. The achievement of the students is not a surprise as they are active participants in the series of activities of the Association and follow our information events with interest.
This can only make us happy because we strive to increase the general eco-culture of people, especially adolescents. No measures to return birds to the wild and investments in the field would have any effect if this awareness and interest in children is lacking. They prepare themselves under the mentorship of their teacher Philip Ustabashiev. Gabriela Apostolova is the only participant in the national quiz who has the maximum points - 151. Petko Shumanov and Raim Kavlakov are also among those with very high scores.
A team from the project "Natura 2000 in Bulgaria - New Horizons" and "Bright Future for the Black Vulture" personally presented the awards to the students. And the whole event was filmed by HobbyTV team
Before that we discussed the ecological network "Natura 2000" - the benefits and opportunities that the network gives to the society and main activities of the project "Natura 2000 in Bulgaria - New Horizons", with special attention to one of the flag species of the project - bats. We also celebrated the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Natura 2000 network of protected areas in the European Union - one of the most successful tools for the conservation of Europe's rich natural heritage.
Lyubka Gyurova, on the other hand, made a presentation on the activities that have been implemented so far under the project "Bright Future for the Black Vulture". The children were informed in detail about the work that our colleagues are doing in the field, at the Wildlife Rescue Centre in Stara Zagora, with the hardships that the vultures go through so that we can enjoy seeing them in the skies above Bulgaria.  They also watched the film "Chronicles of a dream come true" - Part II, dedicated to the lords of the sky and created especially for this project This made them realize that every small activity of ours leads to big results, which we can be proud of this year after tens of years of work on the return of vultures in Bulgaria- two newly hatched Cinereous Vultures.
We would like to express our gratitude to the National Professional High School of Forest management "Hristo Botev" – Velingrad. See you soon!
