The signal was submitted on Wednesday morning, when the bird was captured by 61st Stryama mechanized brigade, Karlovo.

The team of Green Balkans and veterinarians from the Wildlife rehabilitation and breeding center rescued the bird and transported it to Stara Zagora.

After the examination the specialists from the Center determined frostbite of the first bones of the left leg fingers and incipient necrosis of the right leg of the bird. There was also a flesh wound on the left wing and its general clinical condition was critical – the bird was weak and extremely dehydrated.

We started the rehabilitation immediately and meanwhile we connected our colleagues from Rosegg zoo, Austria, as it was found out that the bird is part of a pilot project for recovery of the species population, in which the zoo is partner.
