A heavy snow fell in the park and the adjacent areas of Northwestern Bulgaria in the beginning of January 2017. The snow cover reached from 50 cm to about 1 meter at windy sites.
Two Griffon Vultures from Kotel were admitted at the Wildlife Rescue Centre for treatment on January 3d. They were transported by a staff of FWFF, part of the Vultures Back to LIFE14 NAT/BG/649 Project.
In the period 14-15 December 2016 final workshop of project LIFE10/NAT/IT/256 „Environmental Management and Conservation in Mediterranean Saltworks and Coastal Lagoons ” was held in Commachio, Italy.

At the dawn of the New Year, a team of Green Balkans transported to the Rescue Centre in Stara Zagora a pair of Griffon Vultures from the aviary at Rakitna, maintained by the Fund for Wild Flora and Fauna. The history of these birds is extremely interesting. Unfortunately they would not survive into the nature so we want to give them the chance to breed in captivity...
