Recently, there has been a series of cases of people using Green Balkans’ name or logo. They do this for unknown reasons, placing our name or logo on their cars without being authorized and without asking the Organization’s permission.
The Committee added: “We are shocked by what we have seen for the past few days. We are shocked by the inaction of your Government. We assure you that we will insist on urgent measures by Brussels. You, the people taking part in the protest actions, you are the real civil society in Bulgaria. You are the honey of this country!”
Today, a delegation of six Members of the European Parliament, led by the Chairman of the Committee on Petitions – Marcin Libicki, and three Deputy Chairpersons, gets acquainted with the illegal construction of “Super Borovets”, “Iskrovete”, and “Panichishte” ski resorts on the spot.
Just as the last year during the sowing-time many wild animals died after eating seeds threatened with chemicals against pests. On October 20th, 2008 after a signal send by hunting society of Radnevo, a team of Green Balkans participated in the inspection of the affected sites and found a number of dead birds both from sporting and protected species, such as Circus aeruginosus and a Falco tinnunculus.
Last week the Law for Amendments (LA) to the Hunting and Game Protection Act (HGPA) was promulgated in the State Gazette.
For the past few months this Law stirred up lots of concerns in Green Balkans and the entire nature conservation community regarding some shocking changes planned by the proposers of the Bill.
The demonstration in Plovdiv was organized by volunteers of Green Balkans and was supported by the Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds, Citizens for Rila nad many other young people. At the same time a demonstration was held in Sofia, too.
