We are happy to present you the new attraction in the European stork village Belozem - a diorama of the natural habitat of the white stork. It is installed in the Information Center "Belozem - European Stork Village", managed by the Community center "Prosveta 1909" and it is expecting its visitors.
On April 15, a team of Green Balkans together with Cultural centre "Prosveta-1888" in Pomorie officially opened an exhibition of works that participated in the competition for children's drawing "I protect biodiversity from pollution." The aim of the competition was for the students to enrich their knowledge about Pomorie Lake and other wetlands in the Burgas region, as well as to emphasize the responsibility, especially of the younger generation, for protecting them from pollution.
With the onset of spring, the migration process continues and the number of Sandwich terns (Sterna sandvicensis) on Pomorie Lake is increasing, as resting and feeding birds at the moment are about 200 individuals. In the last week, among the many terns, we had the chance to see those ringed in the local colony.
During the regular monitoring of the biodiversity of Pomorie Lake, conducted within the project LIFE for Pomorie Lagoon, a record number of the species Pygmy Cormorant (Phalacrocorax pygmaeus) - 658 individuals.
The first Saker falcon family is back together! Seven days after the hatching of the first four Saker falcons in the incubators of the Wildlife Rehabilitation and Breeding Centre - Green Balkans, and after being looked after by the “Saker Falcon Reintroduction in Bulgaria” team, the chicks are now reunited with their parents!
On April 13th, 8 Black Vultures were transferred from the Sinite kamani Nature Park aviary to the adaptation aviary in Kotel to be released by the “Bright Future for Black Vulture” LIFE14/NAT/BG/649 project team. Among other tagged birds, there is the Black Vulture Djuranlii who was rehabilitated in the Green Balkans’ Wildlife and Rehabilitation Center. All released birds will strengthen the Black vulture group in the area, which already made us happy with 2 nesting pairs - for the first time since many decades.
The billboards are in front of the building of "Sinite kamani" Nature Park Directorate located on: 1B, Tsar Simeon Blvd., on the road of the information and visitor center “Haidushka pateka” in the Nature Park.
The Hellenic Society for the Protection of Nature, the University of Thessaly and the Hellenic Ornithological Society met online, in order to discuss about their common objective which is the improvement of the conservation status of Lesser Kestrel (Falco naumanni). In total, 8 representatives from the three institutions joined the vivid discussion about each project’s activities, which set the ground for further collaboration in the future.
The registered animal is an adult male and was observed when was feeding and resting in the rocky habitats on the territory of Sinite kamani Nature Park. Although the Chamois (Rupicapra rupicapra) is included in the park's fauna list, the latest data of its presence dates back decades.
