Record numbers of griffon vultures at the ‘Vrachanski Balkan’ Nature Park

04.06.2019
For the last month around 70 griffon vultures were observed at the Park, making it the highest number recorded there. This is mainly due to the many newcomers, some of which are untagged birds, as well as tagged birds from the Eastern Rhodope mountains, Kresna Gorge, Central Balkan, Serbia and even Izrael. On the 20th May there even was a black vulture, flying above, near the Dolno Ozirovo feeding station.

All 12 nesting pairs in the park are taking care of their chicks. Unfortunately, after the heavy rains in May, two of the nests are uninhabited.
