Saker falcons at freedom!

Saker falcons at freedom!

01.06.2020
Thee new Saker falcons were released last week.

They were released by adaptation aviary or the so-called hack method. Their temporary home was placed by the 'Reintroduction of the Saker Falcon in Bulgaria" project team.

After being examined, weighed, dewormed, and marked, the young birds were placed in their temporary home. There they will spend the necessary time to adapt, after which the hack will be opened. This way they will be able to explore the area freely, but will still have a safe and familiar place to return to.

This, of course, does not end the care for them. Our field assistants will continue to feed them, but in a hidden way, through a special elevator.

And thanks to the cameras placed in and around the adaptation aviary, our team will be able to monitor the falcons around the clock and, if necessary, intervene and help them.

We hope that these young birds will cope as well with their new life in freedom as their older siblings!

We would like to thank our guests from the Agricultural Institute in Stara Zagora and the team from BNT 1 TV and Hobby TV for being part of this special moment for us!
