The finalists of “Miss Bulgaria” Beauty Contest visited the Wildlife Rescue Center in Stara Zagora

Eight of the ten most beautiful girls taking part in this year’s “Miss Bulgaria” Beauty Contest planted trees of the Horse-chestnut species in front of the building of the Wildlife Rescue Center in Stara Zagora.

Horse chestnut is Green Balkans’ emblem and an endemic species for the Balkan Peninsula. The finalists in the beauty contest fed the Hobby, which perched on the shoulder of one of the girls before the eyes of the amazed beauties. The pretenders to the crown did not hold their outrage back seeing the Rescue Center’s permanent patients – shot Swans, one-winged Pelicans and Storks. Together with Dr. Hristina Hristova the girls released a successfully rehabilitated Little Owl in the wild, thus feeling the incredible thrill of being directly contributing to the conservation of biological diversity.

Excited by their meeting with the captive animals, the beautiful ladies expressed their support for nature conservation because they did not approve such aggressive attitude towards nature. They expressed their willingness to get involved into the activities implemented by the Rescue Center and supported “For the Nature” campaign, posing for photographs with posters of the initiative. This year’s crown winner will be constantly in contact with Green Balkans’ Wildlife Rescue Center and will take part in various activities supporting nature conservation.
