After the end of the breeding season in the Green Balkans' Wildlife rehabilitation and breeding center it is time for prophylactic examinations of the animals in our aviaries.
So, in the middle of the previous week our team of veterinarians supported by young people from the “Students practices” project of the Ministry of education and science, participants in the “Young green hopes” project, financed by Youth bank, made prophylactic examinations of the Griffon and Black vultures in the Center.
The birds' weight was taken, they were externally and internally disinfested, their beaks and nails were thoroughly examined and those who needed were trimmed.
Meanwhile in the aviaries, home of the birds in the center, a detailed cleaning of the floor, the walls, the perches and the nest platforms was made and after that they were carefully disinfected.
The leaders of the activities were members of the team of “Bright future for the Black vulture” LIFE14 NAT/BG/649 project who trained the young environmentalists during the examination to some of the specifics of the work with vultures.
