The initiators of the wetlands drawing contest – Regional Inspectorate of Environment and Water(RIEW) - Plovdiv and Green Balkans‘ ‘NATURA 2000 in Bulgaria – New Horizons’ project team, will display the works of the entrants in three exhibitions in partnership with Plovdiv Municipality and Asenovgrad Municipality.
The children drawings from the wetlands contest are shown in the building of RIEW Plovdiv – the Water Chamber in Plovdiv, located at 122 Maritsa bul., where other state administrations are also housed. There won’t be an official opening ceremony for the exhibition, but every visitor of the building will have the chance to see the drawings.
Asenovgrad Municipality is a host of the exhibition with the children drawings since Monday (22 March). The display is on the notice boards in the “Information Centre” in the municipality building. The exhibition will last two weeks and it can be viewed by every citizen who visits the municipality.
Thanks to the Plovdiv Municipality and The Ancient Plovdiv Municipal Institute, the works of the young artists will be shown by The Ancient Plovdiv Municipal Institute team. Due to the current epidemiological situation, this will happen as an online exhibition that will be live streamed directly on the municipal institute Facebook page. Enthusiasts who want to immerse in the world of children drawings, can do so on Ancient Plovdiv Facebook page and on their Youtube channel as well.
NB! To the participants and winners of the contest: all entrants will receive certificates from RIEW Plovdiv and Green Balkans as well as post cards with the protected species. The winners and honors, however, will receive additional information materials. !!! All letters will be sent after the classes return back to normal in the schools.
Due to the great number of received drawings, the initiators from RIEW Plovdiv and Green Balkans’ ‘NATURA 2000 in Bulgaria – New Horizons’ project team as well as The Ancient Plovdiv Municipal Institute will continue to display a large part of the children’s works in series of virtual exhibitions. Expect to see them on the World Water Day and other ecological dates.
Additional information:
The World Water Day is held on 22 March annually since 1993 under the auspices of the United Nations. This day focuses on the importance of having access to drinkable water and taking actions to handle the water crisis worldwide. The recent campaign aims to show how the mindful use of water will help in the fight with climate changes – to reduce floods, droughts, lack of water and pollution. Water as a main element for all plants and animals plays a key role in the conservation of places where the species meet one another, feed, or find shelter. To secure the conservation of important habitats, including water as a main component – like swamps, rivers, peatlands, each Member State of EU has identified a network of protected areas, included in the NATURA 2000 ecological network. NATURA 2000 is the largest coordinated network for nature conservation. More than 34% of the territory of Bulgaria falls within the scope of the network – 120 protected areas for wild birds and 234 protected areas for conservation of natural habitats.
