Celebrating Bat Night on 31th of October the children from “Happy childhood” kindergarten in the village of Dolni Cibar, together with their teachers, organized by Personal Development Support Center – Municipal Children’s Complex in Valchedram made bat masks and took pictures with them. This was the occasion for another holiday to be celebrated as well – Halloween. Information materials were provided by Green Balkans.
On 28th of October students from “Dimitar Marinov” High School, Valchedram , organized by Personal Development Support Center – Municipal Children’s Complex in Valchedram combined the Bat Night and the forthcoming Day of the National Revival Leaders – 1st of November. They planted 19 trees near Cibrica River to protect the coast from sliding down. The students promised to take care of the trees they planted from now on. The also had information materials for species from Natura 2000.
Natura 2000
Natura 2000 is the greatest coordinate network for nature protection. More than 30% of Bulgarian territory falls into the scope of the network – 120 protected areas for preservation of wild birds and 234 protected areas for preservation of natural habitats.
Bats
33 of all 35 bats species in Europe are to be seen in Bulgaria and they are of key importance for the ecosystems. All of them are protected under the Law for Biodiversity and forest and underground habitats of species are protected zones within the Natura 2000 ecological network.
