Bat Night in the Town of Vidin

On 14.10.2022 the team of Green Balkans was invited, together with the Severozapazvane movement, to PSNSM “Exarch Antim I”, the city of Vidin, to hold another Bat Night event.

We visited the 9th grade students in biology class and talked about the Bats Night initiative, when and where it originated and how long it has been celebrated in Europe and Bulgaria. There are 33 species of bats in our country, all of them are protected by the Biodiversity Act, and their hideouts  are protected within the Natura 2000 ecological network.
We held a presentation and discussion about bat biology and species diversity in the country and the Vidin region and screened a short documentary about bats. Then we continued the lesson with an interactive puzzle  in which the students could test their knowledge from the previous lesson and also had a lot of fun.
We provided the school and the Municipality of Vidin with materials on protected species of birds and bats in the form of children’s information boards to be distributed in educational institutions and libraries in the area.
The event was covered by BNR Vidin.

Thank you for the invitation and for the wonderful organization!

Green Balkans events to mark the International Bat Night are being held within the framework of the project “Natura 2000 in Bulgaria – New Horizons”.
