Lyubomir Vasilev

Lyubomir Vassilev has extensive experience in media, business and non-governmental organizations.

He has worked for two years as a reporter for “24 Chasa”, one year as editor-in-chief for “Kash” newspaper (the first foreign investment in the media sector in Bulgaria) and 12 years for Capital newspaper (the last three of them as editor). He was business development manager of Economedia AD for three years, the company publishing more than 20 media products, including Capital newspaper, www.dnevnik.bg and others.

He was manager of publishing companies specializing in the field of information technology (“ICT Media” - publisher of PC world, Computer world, etc.), infrastructure (“Balpeks” - publisher of “Construction City”, organizer of the "Building of the year” competition, etc.), utility services (“Uconomics”), publications for foreigners in Bulgaria (The Sofia Echo), as well as an online financial portal (fincity.bg).

Author and manager of more than 20 projects funded by the European Parliament, the European Commission, America for Bulgaria Foundation, EEA FM, Sofia Municipality, Friedrich Ebert Foundation, CEE Trust, Open Society Institute, MoEW, MLSP and others.

Member (Chairman in 2011) of the Steering Committee of the international project "Promotion of Sustainable Financing and Payments for Ecosystem Services (PES) in the Danube River Basin", funded by the United Nations Environment Program and the European Commission.

He was a member of the working group for the preparation of the National Development Plan 2007-2013 and of the Tax Advisory Committee at the General Tax Directorate.

Author and editor of dozens of publications, including "Payments for ecosystem services", "Biodiversity", "Inspirational meetings of the third kind - 10 success stories of Bulgarian NGOs", "Current media trends and models", "Bulgaria and the multiannual financial framework of EU 2014-2020 ”; Models for Regional Development, Current Tax Problems ”,“ Accountant's Desk ”, etc.

Regular moderator of international and national conferences, seminars and trainings.

Loves traveling with an emphasis on nature and horseback riding. After realizing his childhood dream - a photo safari in the Serengeti during the great migration, he is now preparing to realize his more "mature" dream - a tour of US national parks.
