Bat Night in the Town of Vratsa

The celebration of the International Bat Night, organized by the Vrachanski Balkan Nature Park Directorate on October 13th, was held with great interest. More than 50 students from “Kozma Trichkov” Secondary School, “Otets Paisii” Secondary School  and “Hristo Botev” Secondary School,  Vratsa took an active part in the initiative.

Bat Night in the Town of Kula

At the invitation of the Severozapazvane movement, on 14.10.2022, we visited the Community Center “Prosveta -1882” - the town of Kula. We held another Bat Night, which aroused great interest among children and adults in the area.

Green Balkans volunteer camp

In the period 28-30 September 2022 a volunteer camp was held in the area of the village of Rakitna, Kresna Gorge, organized by Zeleni Balkani, together with the FWFF and with the participation of a group of motivated volunteers. More than 10 new volunteers joined the camp and shared with us the emotion of a working day among the vultures.

Bat Night in the town of Stara Zagora

The time has come for the bats to land in the courtyard of Geo Milev House-Museum in the town of Stara Zagora. We marked the event with a varied program of artistic workshops, exhibitions with curious facts and photos of bats that are found in Bulgaria, and for the older guests there was a film and an interesting presentation about bats.

Bat Night in the town of Nova Zagora

On 04.10.2022 in the town of Nova Zagora, together with the Cultural Center „ M. Balkanski House“ - Nova Zagora, we held  Bat Night for another year. Celebrated for the first time more than 25 years ago, today the European Bat Night is organized in more than 30 countries, including Bulgaria.

Bat Night in the Town of Lovech

On 20.09.2022 in the town of Lovech, with the courtesy of the Municipality of Lovech, we held Bat Night for another year. Celebrated for the first time more than 25 years ago, today the European Bat Night is organized in more than 30 countries, including Bulgaria.

Certificate – Finalist in the “Communication” category for the “Natura 2000”award of the European Commission 2022

The Bulgarian information project “Natura 2000 in Bulgaria - New Horizons” which has been implementing by Zeleni Balkani in partnership with Darik Radio, Dnevnik, Capital and Hobby TV, won the Natura 2000 award, in the Communication category. This large-scale information campaign, funded by the EU’s LIFE programme, aims to raise awareness of the Natura 2000 network in Bulgaria, using flagship species and habitats to inform about key aspects of Natura 2000.

The official ceremony for the winners in the ‘Wild Chestnut’ journalism competition

The official ceremony for the winners of the ‘Wild Chestnut’ competition for green journalism was held on 5th-7th August at the Leva Hotel in Vratsa. The official event was held on the 6th and all nominees received a certificate of participation and the winners in each category received the special ‘Wild Chestnut’ plaque. Various journalists as well as experts in the field of nature conservation and representatives of various institutions took part in the official event.

Celebrating the World Whale and Dolphin Day in Stara Zagora

Our friends at the Zahariy Knyazhevski Regional Library, Stara Zagora invited us on the 25th July to celebrate the World Whale and Dolphin Day. On the 23rd July 1982 the International Whaling Commission voted for a complete ban on commercial whaling for the period 1985-86 and since has been celebrated as the World Whale and Dolphin Day.
