The Green Balkans Plovdiv volunteers celebrated December 5th

On December 5, we celebrate the International Volunteer Day - a global initiative launched in 1985.

Ever since its establishment, Green Balkans has relied on the involvement of citizens in nature conservation activities. To this day, thousands of people have contributed to the success of the organization's conservation activities.

To celebrate this important date and to express our gratitude to the people who donate their time, work and knowledge to our common cause, we gathered to talk about volunteering.

The program began with a presentation of the Green Balkans initiatives by Aneliya Pavlova - her personal story as a young volunteer who grew up with the activities of the organization. Photographer Evgeniy Dakov presented unique photos of bird diversity in the region of Plovdiv and the Maritsa River, and Krum Sirakov, also a longtime volunteer, introduced us to a climbing route in memory of another dedicated supporter of the organization.
We ended with a fun quiz and a small treat - everyone had made sure to bring something tasty and possibly home-made.

We’d like to thank everyone who got involved in the celebration and shared their stories!

We would also like to thank everyone who support us, for their devotion and belief that despite all the difficulties it is possible to learn to be good to our home - the Earth.
