Bat Night in the Town of Kula

*
14.10.2022
At the invitation of the Severozapazvane movement, on 14.10.2022, we visited the Community Center “Prosveta -1882” - the town of Kula. We held another Bat Night, which aroused great interest among children and adults in the area.

The event was attended by over 45 children and adults from the town of Kula and its surroundings, who listened with interest to a presentation on the biology and lifestyle of bats, their habitats, their benefits and needs.
The initiative to celebrate the event was taken by the Secretariat of EUROBATS – Agreement on the Conservation of Populations of European Bats.
Celebrated for the first time in 1990 in France and Poland, today the European Bat Night is organized in more than 30 countries, including Bulgaria. In 2012, the USA, the Philippines, Azerbaijan, Israel, Tunisia, Ukraine and Lebanon joined the event for the first time. With this, Bat Night  becomes an international event, which goes beyond the Old Continent, and aims to introduce more people to the unique way of life and the great importance of one of the most interesting animals on the planet - bats.

The nature documentary clip on the link between Covid-19 and bats, which we screened afterwards, also sparked a lot of discussion about animals.

All the children had great fun taking part in our children's workshops where they could make their own bat masks and paint their faces, thus supporting the initiative. For the most patient, there were also bat picture puzzles to put together.

Visitors could test the knowledge acquired during the presentation by participating in an interactive puzzle-game about bats.

Informational materials, puzzles and sets with children’s information boards were provided both for the community center in the town of Kula, as well as for the “Vasil Levski” elementary school, the town of Kula, the “Vasil Levski” elementary school in the village of Boynitsa and many other schools and libraries in the area.

We thank the Severozapazvane movement in the person of Nasko Tsanov and the Community Center “Prosveta -1882”, the town of Kula for the great organization of the event!
We would also like to thank all the visitors who participated in celebrating the initiative!

See you soon!
