07.10.2022
On 04.10.2022 in the town of Nova Zagora, together with the Cultural Center „ M. Balkanski House“ - Nova Zagora, we held  Bat Night for another year. Celebrated for the first time more than 25 years ago, today the European Bat Night is organized in more than 30 countries, including Bulgaria.

The initiative to celebrate the event is the Secretariat of EUROBATS - the Agreement on the Conservation of Populatons of European Bats.
Celebrated for the first time in 1990 in France and Poland, today the European Bat Night is organized in more than 30 countries, including Bulgaria. In 2012, the USA, the Philippines, Azerbaijan, Israel, Tunisia, Ukraine and Lebanon joined the event for the first time. With this, the Bat’s Night  becomes an international event, surpassing the scale of the Old Continent, which aims to introduce more people to the unique way of life and the great importance of one of the most interesting animals on the planet – bats.

In order to reach more people in Bulgaria - mainly children and students, we at Green Balkans traditionally celebrate this not with a one-time event on one date, but with several events throughout the month.

In the city of Nova Zagora, students and visitors to our event had the opportunity to learn many useful and interesting facts about bats and their way of life through various fun activities - interactive puzzle-game, video projection and artistic workshops.

Over 120 children participated and were extremely happy to support the event, listening carefully to the presentation about the different types of bats in the country, and then each of them made their own bat-shaped face mask. Undoubtedly, the thing they enjoyed the most was painting their faces with special paints and turning them into beautiful nightscapes with the moon and flying bats.

We sincerely thank all students, teachers and visitors who participated in the event! We especially thank the Cultural Center „M. Balkanski  House“ - Nova Zagora for the invitation and for being our kind hosts and helping us with everything we needed to hold the Bat’s Night!
