The Green Balkans team and professors at Trakia University performed an autopsy on a dolphin

Already in the first days of the current academic year, students of veterinary medicine from Trakia University had the opportunity to attend the autopsy of a dolphin, during a pathoanatomic exercise.

The dolphin was washed up on the Black Sea coast earlier this year and stored in the freezers of the Green Balkans Wildlife Rescue Center.

The autopsy was performed by the Center's team, together with pathoanatomy professors from the department of the University's Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. During it, samples were collected, which will be sent for further tests, since the probable cause of death, according to the experts present at the autopsy, is some kind of infectious disease.

We thank Trakia University and, in particular, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine for the assistance and the opportunity they give to future veterinarians to develop in the profession.
