Veterinary medicine students from Trakia University, interns at the Center, also participated in the prevention.
The traditional health check ups of the saker falcons, are held every fall under the direction of the Center's veterinarians, and they include an examination and deworming for internal and external parasites. Special attention is paid to the plumage of the birds, as well as their beaks and claws. And, where necessary, the latter are trimmed and/or filed.
During the examinations, the aviaries, the home of the birds, were also inspected. In addition to their cleaning and disinfection, some of the facilities were repaired.
Thus, the saker falcons at the Rescue Center of Green Balkans will welcome this winter in good health and clean, repaired homes.
The 'Reintroduction of the Saker Falcon in Bulgaria' project is funded by Mohamed Bin Zayed Raptor Conservation Fund and Armeec JSC.
