The exhibition includes a series of scientific illustrations, paintings, graphics, digital images and other mixed media, created by members of the Society of Animalists, Florists and Scientific Illustrators - DAPHNI!
Inspired by the rare and protected species, the object of recovery programs in Bulgarian nature and purposeful conservation and scientific activities, the authors present the relationship between art, science and wildlife conservation. The creative initiative is the result of the partnership of Green Balkans, the Wild Flora and Fauna Fund, Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski", the National Academy of Arts and course illustrators from DAFNI.

From 05.10.2022, for about a month, avid nature lovers and admirers of art in the city under the hills will be able to enjoy the works displayed in the Exhibition Hall of the Natural History Museum in Plovdiv, reports the "Life for Lesser kestrel" LIFE19 NAT/BG/001017 project team, implemented by Green Balkans with the support of the LIFE Program of the European Union. The Lesser kestrel is one of the bird species that until recently was considered extinct in Bulgarian nature. One of the last documented places where the rare falcon nested is on the hills of the city of Plovdiv, and today, thanks to the efforts of Green Balkans, these birds are once again breeding within the borders of our country.

"For the first time in our country, art, science and wildlife conservation are being attempted as one, and 'The Great Return' aims to show the connection between them. The exhibition focuses on the problem of the disappearance of more than 30 species of animals and plants from the territory of our country, as well as on attempts to restore their populations. The artists presented in the "Great Return" and their work create the contemporary image of Bulgarian scientific illustration and art inspired by wild nature," the organizers of the Exhibition announce.

"The Great Return" 1 and 2 are artistic performances, part of two scientific conferences held in 2015 and 2021, dedicated to an extremely topical topic related to rare disappearing species of plants and animals, and attempts to bring them back, added by DAFNI and Green Balkans.
